Upaj by Absolute is supported by Xamahar – Assam AgriFin Fund

Upaj of Absolute, a technology-driven agricultural value chain, life sciences company, has received a grant from the Xamahar Assam AgriFin Fund to transform Assam’s livestock, fisheries and horticulture sectors. 

 Xamahar is a challenging agricultural fund, a competitive financing mechanism that specifically supports innovative approaches from the private sector and provides comprehensive financial services to farmers in key agricultural value chains in Assam. It is financed by the World Bank and implemented by Assam Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Services (ARIAS) as  Assam Agriculture and Rural Transformation Project (APART). 

Xamahar – Assam Agrifin Fund supports  financial service providers (banks, MFIs, value chain financiers, insurance companies, payment service providers) to pilot and/or scale up innovations that improve financial services (savings, payments, insurance, and credit) across the agricultural sector. value chains in Assam. 

1.25 million producer profit 

  The media reported that these innovations were implemented or expanded in APART’s 23 priority areas and  directly benefited 1,25,000 producers, 30 percent of whom are women. Through the grant, Upaj will implement targeted technology and financial solutions including precision advisory, agricultural finance and insurance in the livestock, fisheries and horticulture sectors, the statement said. By combining its core modules – SmartSTAC for technology adoption and DigiSafe for personal insurance – Upaj aims to increase farm incomes and farmer livelihoods in  APART regions under the Xamahar Agrifin Challenge. The Upaji ecosystem has employed more than 20 million farmers  and plans to increase the number to 50 million. Quoting Sourabh Bagla, director of Upaji, it says that the Xamahar AgriFin Challenge is a plan to transform agriculture in underdeveloped areas. “Our partnership aims to empower marginalized farmers with cutting-edge technology and support not only individual producers but the entire ecosystem.
